9 Things To Do in EV This Holiday Season

The Michael Bublé holiday album is on repeat. Your ugly Christmas sweater has been dug out of storage. You’ve started making lists and checking them twice: all the presents to buy, cookies to bake, and movies to watch. It can be a hectic time, but we’re here to make things easier with our round-up of East Village holiday happenings. With events like eco-friendly gift wrapping parties to a pop-up Christmas tree lot, you’re sure to get in the spirit of the season!

1. Holiday Wrapping Parties

   Wrap up the season with us at one of our free Holiday Wrapping Parties! For three Sundays in December, the East Village Experience Centre will be filled with all the recyclable paper and ribbons you'll need to wrap your gifts. There will also be a special workshop each Sunday that teaches unique and eco-friendly ways to do your holiday wrapping with items like Japanese Furoshiki cloth, magazine bows and DIY fabric bags.

2. Light Up The Square

   Meet up with your neighbours for the annual community tree lighting! Chat or sing carols with your EV friends as you take a ride on a horse-drawn wagon through the neighbourhood's streets and pathways.

4. NORTHERN REFLECTIONS WINDOW EXHIBITION

   Looking for an outdoor activity the whole family can enjoy? Discover the magical window scenes in East Village and downtown Calgary! The Northern Reflections Winter Window Exhibition by Buds of Buds transforms city streets into an interactive urban gallery through an Augmented Reality app (Augle) that brings the painted windows to life.

5. #EVKissmas

   Want to share a smooch with somebody special this holiday season? Take a walk through East Village – you'll find mistletoe popping up in surprise spots all around the neighbourhood! Post a photo of yourself and a loved one (dog, BFF, mom, S/O) under the mistletoe with the hashtag #evKissmas, and we’ll share our favourites on social media!

6. SHOP FOR GIFTS AT LIZ & LOTTIE

7. Curling at St. Patrick’s Island

   When you need to take a break from all those Christmas cookies, try your hand at one of Canada's most beloved winter sports. Our synthetic curling sheet is back at St. Patrick's Island and will be open daily from 9:00AM-7:00PM. Play solo or in teams – you can even make your own rules!

8. East Village Tree Lot, brought to you by 31st Scouts

   Come re-enact all those Hallmark holiday movies you’ve been watching (don’t deny it) at our pop-up Christmas tree lot! Search for the perfect tree with your partner, pal or the entire fam while sipping on a hot holiday drink.
